PENNFIELD, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – The Pennfield Township Board voted Tuesday night on an ordinance change that would ban some donation boxes in the township.
The board approved an amendment to the zoning ordinance that would require the boxes to be on the property of the charity or business that operated them.
The Plainfield Township Supervisor, Rob Behnke, said in a release that the amendment was put in place after a number of donation boxes popped up "almost overnight," in several neighborhoods.
The new rule goes into effect on April 25th.
