KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Judy Sarkozy says that a critical loan has come through and that work will begin on a new location for the bakery.
Sarkozy says that Keystone Bank, the Small Business Administration and the City of Kalamazoo teamed up for the $270,000 loan package. That loan, combined with other money from insurance and fundraisers, “gets us close enough to our financial goal to start eh demolition and get this process going,” said Sarkozy.
Construction on the new bakery, which will be in the Columbia Plaza building at 350 E. Michigan, is expected to take about four months. When completed the new bakery will cover 4,000 square feet and have an open bakery so that customers will be able to watch the bakers as they work.
