PORTAGE, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A record amount of blood donors in West Michigan turned out on Tuesday to support the bombing victims in Boston.
A blood drive put on by Michigan Blood was held at the Air Zoo in Portage, just hours ago.
Organizers say 45 people came out to donate blood, which is more than double the number of donors they expected.
Many donors there say it was the least they could do to help the victims of Monday's tragedy.
"It's hard, a lot of people come out when something bad happens, that they just want to do something and it's kind of like, what can you do, really," said donor Sara Cosby. "You can hope and send out your best wishes to people, so I thought this was something."
Michigan Blood says it's looking for all types of blood to be donated.
