PORTAGE, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - You can't drive down Westnedge Avenue in Portage without noticing an endless amount of business signs.
Now, city leaders want your input to potentially make some changes.
Whether you love the signs along Westnedge or you hate them, people definitely have a chance to speak up Saturday about them.
The city is hosting a unique community forum to talk about signage in the city.
Portage Mayor Pete Strazdas says the city wants some honest feedback from the public about all the advertisements along Westnedge.
They're hoping for a good cross-section of the community to come out and voice their thoughts.
The city says that right now, they're not any more or less restrictive with signs than neighboring communities.
Since that strip of Westnedge is becoming a major commercial district, they'd appreciate the input.
The forum starts at 8:30 a.m., at Portage City Hall, and runs until about noon.
The city will present some data, and then hopes to do break-out sessions with smaller groups so people can talk about what changes they'd like to see.
After hearing from the community on Saturday, the sign committee will put together a new plan to present to the City Council in about a month.
We'll be sure to keep you updated.
