EVERETT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Newaygo County man released from a mental health facility after killing a mother of three is again receiving treatment for stabbing himself and decapitating his cat.
Last Tuesday, Warren Culver called 911 from his Everett Township home, saying he was going to hurt himself.
When deputies arrived, they found he stabbed himself twice and his cat was decapitated.
Now, police have been working to try and get Culver back into a mental health facility when he's released from the hospital.
Back in 1997, Culver was found not guilty by reason of insanity for killing his friend Marty Bulson.
He's accused of brutally attacking her with a shovel and an axe, believing she was the antichrist.
Culver was sent to a Kalamazoo mental institution instead of prison, but was released in 2009.
At this time, police and prosecutors are discussing possible criminal charges against Culver.
