WIND ADVISORY

10 AM Until 2 AM Saturday

The National Weather Service maintains a WIND ADVISORY for nearly all of West Michigan from 10 AM this morning until 2 AM Saturday morning.  45 mph gusts are likely inland while 50 mph gusts are possible at the Lake Shore.  This kind of wind is capable of bringing down tree branches and creating some power outages.  Obviously, we hope that doesn't happen.  Winds blow from the northwest this morning then from the north by midday and beyond.  Stay with wwmt.com for your weather today and always!

Motorcyclist dies after crashing into car

Motorcyclist dies after crashing into car story image
SPARTA, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A motorcyclist is dead after slamming into the back of a car in Kent County.

It happened just after 6 p.m. Friday on 13 Mile Road, just west of Fruit Ridge Ave. in Sparta.

Witnesses tell deputies 44-year-old Eric Vanslyke of Sparta was speeding on his motorcycle, down 13 Mile Road when he hit a car backing out of a driveway.

The driver of the car, 82-year-old Andrew Sorensen, and his passenger, 85-year-old Norma Sorensen, were not injured in the crash. Vanslyke died from his injuries.
