Man found guilty of sexual abuse, torture of autistic boy

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – A Kalamazoo County man is facing 25 years behind bars for the abuse of an autistic boy.
Chief Assistant Prosecutor Carrie Klein tells Newschannel 3 that a jury found David John Bassett guilty of one count of first degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of torture and two counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct.
The charges against Bassett came from incidents that occurred between 2006 and 2008 and involved a boy with autism who would have been between the ages of six and nine at the time.
Bassett had previously spent time in prison on a charge of distributing child sexually abusive material.
Bassett is scheduled to be sentenced on April 29th.
