KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A man accused of killing a Kalamazoo woman in a 20-year-old cold case murder is expected to face charges Wednesday.
Grady Shields was set to be released from prison last week for an unrelated crime, but new technology finally linked him to the cold case murder that police have suspected him in for years.
In October of 1993, Lois Cox and her car disappeared from Kalamazoo.
Days later she was found shot to death in Three Rivers.
Now police say Shields killed her.
Investigators tell NewsChannel 3 Shields has been a suspect in this murder since at least 2005.
Multiple agencies tried to figure out who killed Cox, but up until a few weeks ago no one was able to officially link Shields to the murder.
Carrie Klein at the prosecutor's office told us earlier that their detectives really put a lot of work in to solve it but it just went cold.
Grady Shields will be in court Wednesday morning to face charges.
NewsChannel 3 will be there and bring you the details at noon.
