ALBION, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A man who police say held a woman hostage and then set her house on fire could be in court Monday morning.
It happened Saturday night around 9:45 in Albion.
According to officers the man held a woman hostage with a shotgun.
The woman managed to escape and call public safety.
By the time officers arrived the home was on fire. They believed the man was still in the area with more guns.
Albion Public Safety officers entered the house with rifles and bullet proof vests. They did not find the man, but discovered the fire was set on purpose.
"There were several places throughout the house where fires were started, there just wasn't one fire in the house," said Scott Kipp of Albion Public Safety.
The hostage situation lead to a lock-down at Albion College for a short time.
The man was eventually arrested at a gas station less than a mile away.
Officers tell us it's likely he will face charges of arson and kidnapping.
