KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Kalamazoo man has pleaded no contest to impersonating an officer to commit a crime and extortion.
32-year-old Lavern Filipunas is accused of pretending to be a police officer to get a discount from prostitutes.
It happened back in February at the Super 8 Motel in Wyoming.
Police say Filipunas solicited prostitution on the Internet, and then pretended to be a cop to get the sex for free.
As part of his deal, a second count of extortion has been dropped.
The agreement calls for a sentence of up to a year in the Kent County Jail.
