KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A man has been charged with murder from his prison cell for a killing in Kalamazoo nearly 20 years ago.
Wednesday, Grady Shields was charged with open murder in the death of Lois Cox.
He appeared via closed circuit television from his prison in Ionia.
Cox disappeared from Kalamazoo back in October of 1993.
She was found shot to death in her car a week later in Three Rivers.
Police say Shields was always their prime suspect, but they only recently gathered enough evidence to charge him.
Shields will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on May 7th.
