WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY & WINTER STORM WARNING

SATURDAY EVENING THROUGH EARLY MONDAY

A strong storm will be crossing the Ohio Valley Sunday, bringing snow to West Michigan, with some areas perhaps seeing as much as 10-14" of accumulation. Snowfall will be heaviest south as opposed to north, so near/south of I-94 is where the highest accumulations are expected... 10-14" possible. However, Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Ottawa, and Kent could see anywhere from 6-10". Additionally, gusty winds will be blowing the snow quite a bit, causing drifting on roads along with poor visibility. Travel is discouraged from late Saturday night through Sunday night.

The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER STORM WARNING for the following counties in West Michigan, effective until 6 am Monday: Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo, Kent, Ionia, Ottawa, Van Buren,  St.Joseph, Branch, and Hillsdale. WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for Muskegon, Newaygo, Mecosta, and Montcalm  until 6 am Monday.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - There are several fireworks displays planned Friday night across West Michigan, and a new one is planned this year in downtown Kalamazoo.

The new Kalamazoo Growlers baseball team is getting ready for S2 Games 'Red, White, and Boom' Night at Homer Stryker Field, presented by Newschannel 3.

"It's just a big show; it's gonna be 20 minutes long, it's coordinated to music, I've never been a part of a show like that," said Growlers Assistant General Manager John Bollinger. "We're gonna be having a hot-air balloon that's taking off from the mound to throw out the first pitch, so we're doing a little bit of everything to make sure it's a fun night."

The Growlers host the Lakeshore Chinooks Friday night, with first pitch scheduled for 7:35.

The Growlers have special jerseys and hats that will be sold after the game.
