ALBION, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A domestic disturbance call leads to a campus on alert late Saturday night.
Around 9:45 p.m. Saturday the Albion Department of Public Safety received a call of a domestic incident at 311 Burr Oak Street.
Officers were told a man was armed with a gun and was holding a woman hostage.
When officers arrived to the home, they saw smoke coming from the house.
Officers tell Newschannel 3 they geared up with bullet proof vest, fire gear and armed with rifles because the man was believed to still be inside the home and armed.
After the fire was extinguished, officers searched the home with a thermal imaging camera, but they did not find the man inside.
Calhoun County Deputies guarded outside the home to make sure the man was not outside.
Albion College, which is a few blocks from where the incident was going on, sent out an alert to students in reference to the incident and the school was placed on lockdown for the time being as a precaution.
ADPS then received a call of a suspicious person at the Shell Gas Station at Michigan and Superior.
Calhoun County Sheriff's Deputies investigated the scene and found the man. He was arrested.
No one was injured.
Officers say after the man was arrested the woman involved in the domestic told them she was able to break free from the situation and take the man's gun away. She then called police.
