Charges against 2 after series of thefts in Kent, Ottawa Co.

KENT COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Kent County Sheriff's Department has announced charges against two men in connection with a series of thefts around Kent and Ottawa County.
Emmanuel Ventura, 21, of Comstock Park is charged with larceny of a firearm, two counts of breaking into a vehicle causing damage, and illegal use of a financial transaction device.
Meanwhile, a warrant has been issued for Angel Osorio, 20, of Saranac on charges of receiving and concealing stolen property in excess of $20,000.
According to the sheriff's office, a number of thefts from cars occurred between December 2012 and March 2013 throughout Kent and Ottawa Counties, including several on the morning of March 6 in Plainfield and Cascade Townships.
The Plainfield thefts happened on Graphic Industrial Drive, and the Cascade thefts in area of 33rd Street SE.
A black High Point .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol was taken in one of the thefts and has not yet been recovered, but frequently, the stolen items were items such as purses and wallets, used to purchase gift cards and fuel.
The sheriff's department stated that several search warrants were issued resulting in the recovery of the property.
Ventura is currently lodged in the Kent County Jail on bond of $35,000 cash or surety.
