Boy could face felony charges after pulling a knife story image
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) --  A 14-year-old boy could be facing felonious assault charges, after police say he pulled a knife on middle school students.

It happened before school Thursday at a bust stop on the corner of Surby and Foster Avenue in Battle Creek.

“Saying he's gunna beat them up at one point during the confrontation the suspect pulled out a knife,” said Det. Sgt. Jim Martens, Battle Creek Police.

Police say a Winchester stainless steel folding knife was shown to students.

“And continued to threaten them, started pulling the blade out so they could see it, brandishing it to them, he was going to beat them up,” said Det. Sgt. Martens.

The bus then pulled up and the suspect walked away. A child told an adult who called police.

Lakeview District leaders sent us a statement on this incident:

“Lakeview School District considers all matters of student safety a top priority and works in close cooperation with the local authorities to address concerns.  The police department’s quick response and resolution to student safety matters convey a strong commitment to our children and families and remains an important part of our school safety efforts.”
