BARRY COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - School leaders in Barry County and the Sheriff are working together to improve school security.
Newschannel 3 first reported on the issue on Wednesday evening.
Thursday, they met to discuss how to make that happen.
After budget cuts forced the Barry County Sheriff's Office to cut back on its school liaison program, a volunteer posse is offering to patrol school hallways to bridge the school security gap.
But the Thornapple-Kellogg School District's Superintendent, Tom Enslem, says he's hesitant to trust uniformed volunteers with weapons.
As soon as we know what came from today's meeting, we'll pass it along.
