PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – The investigation continues Monday to determine the cause of a grass fire that resulted in the death of a Mississippi man.
The man was found on fire along US-131 in Kent County Saturday after a grass fire was discovered near the off ramp to Post Drive in Plainfield Township.
Two people stopped to put out the flames and that's when they spotted the man.
Investigators say the good Samaritans used sand and their own shirts to put out the flames, but the man suffered burns to 100-percent of his body.
He was rushed to the hospital where he died a short time later.
His name is currently being withheld.
Detectives say they do not suspect foul play.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Kent County Sheriff's Department or Silent Observer.
