Traffic alerts for Kalamazoo and Kentwood story image

WEST MICHIGAN (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - There are two traffic alerts for West Michigan drivers Tuesday morning.

In Kalamazoo you may want to avoid Oakland Drive between Oliver and Lovell Street Tuesday.

That area will be closed for utility work. It is expected to re-open Wednesday.

In Kentwood, crews are expected to find out whether a section of westbound 44th Street will open Tuesday.

The street was closed at Kalamazoo Avenue for water system repairs.

Pending a concrete strength test, the street could reopen Tuesday morning.

If results are not satisfactory, the area will open back up to traffic Wednesday.

A detour is posted to 36th Street.
