DENSE FOG ADVISORY

Until 10 AM

The National Weather Service in northern Indiana issues a DENSE FOG ADVISORY for St. Joe and Branch counties until 10 AM.  Dense fog has already been observed in many cities in West Michigan including Kalamazoo.  The ADVISORY may be expanded to include more counties.  Burning off fog this time of year is tough thanks to a low sun angle.  Fog may linger in some locations until midday.

Kalamazoo Co. man faces charges after possible meth fire story image

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A 29-year-old Kalamazoo County man is facing charges after a house fire in Kalamazoo a little over two weeks ago.

Just after 1:00 a.m. on June 25, Kalamazoo Public Safety officers responded to a report of a house fire in the 900 block of Staples Avenue.

Smoke and fire was observed coming from the back side of the home, but no one was there when officers arrived.

After investigating, police located items to manufacture meth, along with around 60 one-pot meth cooking vessels.

Later that day, police arrested Gregory Tristan Pyles on unrelated charges. He was transported to Bronson for treatment on burns to his legs, hands, and face.

An investigation was initiated by Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team, which determined that Pyles was manufacturing meth, which in turn caused the fire.

Officers received an arrest warrant for operating and maintaining a meth lab, and Pyles was arrested July 9.

He was arraigned July 10 for operating and maintaining a meth lab and is lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond.
