Workers injured when tug boat hits pipeline

LOUISIANA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - At least one man has been badly injured after a tugboat collided with a submerged pipeline in Louisiana.

The U.S. Coast Guard says the tug was hauling a barge loaded with thousand of barrels of light crude oil when it happened.

Four people on the ship were hurt in the explosion. One is in serious condition with extensive burns.

Officials say they have to let the fire burn itself out. The surrounding waters are just too shallow to allow firefighting vessels to get close to it.
