Woman accused in boyfriend death testifies

PHOENIX, Ariz. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A woman charged in the stabbing and shooting death of her boyfriend took the stand in court Tuesday.

Investigators say 32-year-old Jodi Arias killed Travis Alexander in 2008 at his suburban Phoenix home.

Prosecutors say that Arias stabbed and slashed Alexander nearly 30 times, slit his throat, and shot him in the head in a fit of jealous rage.

In her testimony, Arias claimed self-defense and said she endured an abusive childhood.

If convicted, she could face the death penalty.
