Thousands of police in manhunt for shooter

LOS ANGELES (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Thousands of police are currently on a manhunt spanning several western states.

The officers are searching for a former Los Angeles Police Officer, accused of several shootings that left 3 people dead, including an officer.

Investigators say Christopher Dorner posted an online manifesto pledging "warfare" to the LAPD and their families.

He was fired from the force in 2008 for making false statements.

Police say Donner is armed with multiple weapons including an assault rifle.

"Of course he knows what he's doing, we trained him," said LAPD Chief Charlie Beck. "He was also a member of the armed forces. It is extremely worrisome and scary."

Police are providing security for at least 40 people named in Dorner's manifesto.
