Tenn. hoops squad disqualfied for 22-year-old player

Updated: Tuesday, March 5 2013, 08:41 PM EST
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Tennessee high school's talented basketball team is out of the running for a state championship after an adult was found posing as a student and playing on the team.

Authorities say the 22-year-old used a fake transcript and got his wife to pretend to be his guardian so he could enroll at the school.

When the state found out, the entire team was disqualified just as they rose to No. 3 in the state.

The discovery was found after an investigation into other school documents.

Parents say they plan to protest.

This is the latest in a  series of troubles for the team, which was recently benched for fighting on the court.
