Suspect shot in Ft. Wayne hostage situation

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A 3-year-old hostage is safe at this hour, following a 4-hour-long standoff.

Police say Kenneth Knight holed himself up in a house with the toddler Wednesday morning, after pulling a woman off a city bus and shooting her.

A sniper shot and killed Knight around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, and police were able to rescue the child.

Police say Knight knew the people who lived in the home, but was not related to any of them.
