WACO, Texas (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - On Friday, survivors from the Branch Davidian cult in Waco are marking the 20th anniversary of the fire that ended a 51 day standoff with federal agents.
Agents raided the compound on February 28th, 1993, trying to arrest the leader of the sect, David Koresh, for stockpiling illegal weapons.
But the group had been tipped off about the raid, and a shootout ensued.
Four agents and six davidians were killed.
On April 19th, nearly 80 sect members died when the compound burned after tear gas was fired into the building.
