Suicide bombing in Kabul during Sec. Hagel's visit

Suicide bombing in Kabul during Sec. Hagel
KABUL (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A suicide bomber sent a deadly warning to new U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel during his first visit to Afghanistan.

A bicycle bomber struck outside the main gate of the Afghan Defense Ministry in Kabul, killing at least nine people.

The Taliban is taking responsibility for the attack, claiming it's a warning to Hagel.

At the time, he was in a briefing at a U.S. led military coalition facility in a different part of the city.

Hagel arrived in Afghanistan Friday for his first trip abroad as Defense Secretary, to make his own assessment of NATO troops withdrawing from the country by 2014.
