WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Senate committee just approved a bill that would create stiff penalties for illegally trafficking guns.
In an 11-7 vote, the committee approved the measure, which would create penalties of up to 25 years in prison for people who buy guns for others, who then use the weapons to commit a crime.
The committee is also considering bans on assault weapons and high capacity magazines.
