WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Nearly a dozen relatives of Sandy Hook shooting victims are lobbying Congress on Tuesday for tougher gun control laws.
The families--flown in personally by President Obama on Air Force One--will be on Capitol Hill through Thursday.
They successfully lobbied the Connecticut legislature for tougher gun laws, and hope to have the same impact in Washington, D.C.
The National Rifle Association is also staying active in the debate.
The gun rights group sent a 'special alert' to its members Monday, calling on them to "contact (their) U.S. Senators," and urge them "to oppose anti-gun" legislation.
