Updated: Thursday, February 14 2013, 08:34 PM EST
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - British police say they've arrested three men, believed to be involved in the horse meat scandal in Europe.

The men worked at two meat processing plants in Wales and West Yorkshire.

They've been placed under arrest on suspicion of fraud offenses.

Meanwhile, the British government now says a drug given to horses may have entered the human food chain in France.

Investigators just discovered Bute in eight horse carcasses.

It's a painkiller and can be harmful to humans if eaten.
