NJ Gov. lashes out after comments from former WH doc

Updated: Thursday, February 7 2013, 07:14 PM EST
TRENTON, N.J. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - New Jersey Governor Chris Christie lashed out at a former White House doctor who said she worries about the Governor dying in office due to his weight.

Former White House physician Connie Mariano made the comment in an interview with CNN.

The Arizona doctor said she'd like to see Christie run for President in 2016, but that he needs to lose weight.

She worries he could have a heart attack or stroke.

"My children saw that last night," Christie said. "And she sat there and said on TV, 'I'm afraid he's gonna die in office."

"If she wants to get on a plane and come here to New Jersey and ask me if she wants to examine me and review my medical history, I'll have a conversation with her about that," the Governor continued. "Until that time, she should shut up."

Christie describes himself as "remarkably healthy," but acknowledges that his doctor "continues to warn (him) that (his) luck is going to run out."
