BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, Ill. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A mother and son survived driving their car right into a sinkhole.

It happened when San Juanita Pineda and her son, 15-year-old Benjamin Hernandez, were delivering newspapers in Burlington Township, Illinois, during Tuesday morning's storms.

The 9-1-1 call the mother made has just been released.

As she was on the phone, a pickup truck flew over her car.

The driver came back to the scene to see if everyone was okay.

The 15-year-old boy suffered a fractured spine, broken ribs, a broken jaw and nose, and right arm; his front teeth are also missing.

His eye is damaged and he has a big cut on his left leg, but family is just happy that the injuries weren't worse.
