Man shot by police may have been suspect in fatal shooting

TEXAS (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Police say a man they shot in Texas may be tied to a deadly shooting in Colorado.

Now, we're learning that man is a paroled prison inmate. Police say the suspect involved is 28-year-old Evan Ebel.

The car Ebal was driving in Texas matches the description of the one seen outside Colorado Prison Director Tom Clement's home before he was shot and killed on Tuesday.

Ebel was shot by deputies in Texas following a high speed chase. He has since been taken off life support.

"We will confirm and say that Colorado is sending and should be here this evening investigators that are working on that case and other homicide cases in the Colorado area," said Sheriff David Walker of the Wise County Sheriff's Office.

Back in 2008 Ebal was convicted of assaulting a prison guard.
