CHICAGO (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will stop in Chicago this week.
He is set to visit the parents of the young U.S. diplomat killed while delivering textbooks in southern Afghanistan.
Kerry is stopping on his way back from Japan.
The Secretary of State says he was deeply affected by the death of Anne Smedinghoff.
The 25 year old was one of four Americans that were killed while walking from a military base to a nearby school.
Kerry says the story should serve as an inspiration and people should use Anne's idealism as motivation to make the world a better place.
