Jury convicts 'cannibal cop'

NEW YORK (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A New York jury convicted the so-called 'cannibal cop' on Tuesday.

A jury found police officer Gilberto Valle guilty of conspiracy and accessing a national crime database.

FBI agents arrested Valle last year after they say he plotted with members of an online community to kidnap, torture, and eat women he knew.

Valle's lawyers say it was only a fantasy, and that he never really intended to hurt anyone.
