Iowa cop's heroics caught on tape

Updated: Tuesday, March 12 2013, 12:08 AM EDT
URBANDALE, Iowa (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - An Iowa cop's heroics are caught on tape.

Police say an 18-year-old driver was doing doughnuts in a church parking lot when he lost control and slammed into the side of the church.

The impact knocked him unconscious and the car caught fire.

The first police officer on-scene raced over and--with the help of a good Samaritan--was able to pull the driver from the burning car, saving his life.

The driver will be charged with reckless driving when he's released from the hospital.
