Group claims regime killing Syrian civilians

Updated: Tuesday, February 26 2013, 08:48 AM EST
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A human rights organization says the Assad regime has killed more than 100 Syrian civilians in a series of missile attacks.

Human Rights Watch says the Syrian military fired at least four ballistic missiles into the city of Aleppo, killing more than 140 people, including 70 children.

The group says none of the targeted areas showed any signs of rebel military targets. They claim this shows President Bashar Assad is escalating the attacks against the civilian population.

The city of Aleppo has seen some of the heaviest fighting in Syria's nearly two-year-old conflict.
