Government sells more GM stock

Updated: Tuesday, March 12 2013, 08:19 AM EDT
WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The U.S. government has sold another chunk of its stake in a Michigan automaker.

The U.S. Treasury Department says it sold $489.9 million worth of General Motors stock in February.

A report released Monday says the government has recovered about $29.8-billion from the bailout of the automaker, which means taxpayers are still almost $20-billion in the hole.

The government vows to exit its stake in GM by March 2014.
