HAWTHORNE, Nev. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - An explosion during a Marine corps training drill in Nevada has killed seven service members.

Emergency responders arrived to an Army facility in Western Nevada at about 10:00 p.m. Monday to find 7 Marines dead and several others injured.

Five Marines are still in serious condition.

The Hawthorne Army Depot is a massive complex of buildings about 140 miles southeast of Reno, used to store ammunition.

The Pentagon says the Marines died when a 60 mm mortar exploded inside its firing tube.

The victims were all based at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina.

The military is not releasing the victim's names until the families can be notified.Explosion during training kills 7 service members
