(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Monday the body of a U.S. diplomat who was killed in Afghanistan will return home.
25-year-old Anne Smedinghoff died in an explosion on Saturday, along with four other Americans.
The group was attacked while traveling to donate textbooks to students.
Anne's father says foreign affairs and helping others were her passions.
"We are consoled by the fact that our daughter was really doing what she loved and making an important contribution," said Tom Smedinghoff.
"The world has really lost somebody who could do a lot of good things," said family friend Katie Whiting.
Smedinghoff's family will be there as her body arrives at Dover Air Force Base Monday.
She is the first U.S. diplomat killed overseas since the deadly attack in Benghazi last year.
