Cruise ship loses power in Gulf of Mexico

GULF OF MEXICO (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - More than 3,000 cruise passengers are now getting an extended vacation after their cruise ship lost power in the Gulf of  Mexico.

The Carnival Cruise Company says there was a fire in the engine room causing the problem.

No one was injured in the fire. The ship is now operating on an emergency generator.

The ship will now have to be towed back to the Mexican coast where guests will then be flown home.
