Boy Scouts delay decision on homosexuality issue

Updated: Wednesday, February 6 2013, 07:21 PM EST
IRVING, Texas (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A decision on whether or not to lift the long-standing ban on gays in the Boy Scouts organization has been delayed.

The Boy Scouts of America board, instead, will wait to take action until its national meeting in May.

The BSA announced last week it's considering a shift of its policy, which has led officials to remove gay leaders and scouts.

President Obama has spoken out in favor of letting gay scouts in.

However, others oppose the idea.

Protesters on both sides have rallied at BSA headquarters in Irving, Texas, just outside of Dallas.
