WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Jay-Z and Beyonce are off the hook for their trip to Cuba.
According to State Department reps, the couple's trip to Havana was sanctioned.
A couple of lawmakers had called for an investigation suggesting the superstar singers might have violated U.S. travel restrictions.
After the Castro regime took power in 1959, the U.S. outlawed tourism there. But, those strict rules are no longer in effect.
"Under the Obama administration there have been regulatory changes made to travel regulations both in April 2009 and January 2011 that were designed to increase people to people contact. The bottom line though, and the goal and intent of those is to promote people to people travel for greater engagement between Cubans and Americans," said Patrick Ventrell, Acting Deputy State Department Spokesman.
Bottom line, no one is in trouble.
Beyonce and Jay-Z were in Havana celebrating their 5th wedding anniversary.
