Arkansas passes tough anti-abortion law

ARKANSAS (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Lawmakers in Arkansas have passed the toughest anti-abortion law in the country.

Wednesday the legislature overrode a veto by Governor Mike Beebe.

The new law bans most abortions beginning in the 12th week of pregnancy.

It will take effect this summer. Abortion rights groups are already planning a legal challenge.
