SOUTH AFRICA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Lawyers for Oscar Pistorius are appealing his bail restrictions.

The Olympian has been released from jail as he awaits trial for the Valentine's Day murder of his girlfriend.

As part of the release Pistorius is not allowed to travel outside South Africa.

His lawyers argue that he is not a flight risk and should be allowed to travel as long as he gets official permission.

Pistorius was released on bail on February 22nd and has been staying with family.

He claims he mistakenly shot his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, believing she was an intruder in the home.
