Mother speaks out after child killed during robbery

GEORGIA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - In Georgia a heartbroken mother is speaking out hours after she was wounded and her 13-month old son is shot and killed in a robbery.

"He said I'm going to kill your baby. I said please don't kill my baby," said Sherry West.

Sherry West says she was walking her son in a stroller not far from her home in Brunswick when she was approached by two young boys.

She says they demanded her money. When she told them she didn't have any she says one of the boys pulled a gun and shot her in the leg.

Then he aimed the gun at her son.

"I put my arms over my baby and he shoves me and then he shot my baby right in the head,” said West. "But why. Why my little one. You should've just taken the pocketbook and go."

Police are still searching for the suspected shooter and the boy who was with him.

They're offering a $10,000 reward for tips that lead to an arrest.
