DENSE FOG ADVISORY

Until 10 AM

The National Weather Service issues a DENSE FOG ADVISORY for all of West Michigan until 10 AM.  Fog may linger in some locations until midday.  Light winds, ample moisture near the ground are encouraging the formation of dense fog.  Because temperatures are near freezing, a light coating of ice may form on some road surfaces making them slick.  Please keep it safe this morning as you head back to work and school.

Police officer illustrates danger of hot cars story image

LOUISIANA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Louisiana police officer puts himself in the hot seat, volunteering to sit, locked inside a car for 10-minutes.

The video is going viral. Thousands watched Officer David Melancon on Youtube demonstrate how quickly the heat can turn deadly.

"I'm just reaching 5 minutes, whoo, it's hot. I can only imagine what a little kid goes through sitting in the car without any air," said Officer Melancon. "I'm 9 minutes in, I got sweat everywheres, it's hard to breathe, it's very hot, temperatures are over 100."

At the end the officer pleads to parents, guardians and babysitters to make sure they don't leave kids and animals in hot cars.
