ANN ARBOR, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A University of Michigan student is in hot water after a viral video shows him belittling an Uber driver with anti-gay slurs and profanities.

An Uber driver named Arthur Zawada posted a video took on YouTube on March 23 shows Jake Croman, a Jewish U of M student, spewing profanities and gay slurs at the driver.

It's not exactly clear how the argument started and the Detroit Free Press is reporting that Croman claims Zawada made an anti-Semitic comment.

Croman released a statement saying Zawada refused to pick him up because of his religion.

Zawada claims that Croman has been warned against demeaning behavior before and that this isn't the first time something like this has happened.

The student is a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and the organization said it is investigating this incident and Croman said he isn't proud of his reaction and regrets his choice of words.

U of M also released a statement condemning the video.
