Michigan townships look into terrorism insurance
LEROY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - You are able to get insurance for anything from your car, to your home, and your health, but now you can also buy terrorism insurance.
"We just decided, you know for a little amount of money, it can cover a whole lot so we might as well go ahead and try it," said Leroy Township Clerk Stacie Dvonch.
When the town of Leroy--just south of Cadillac--was offered "terrorism insurance," they jumped right in.
The insurance will cost the township $22 for the whole year, and covers both domestic and foreign terrorism.
Even though Leroy is a small town of just 2,000 people, something could happen at any time.
The company that Leroy is going through covers a couple hundred townships in Michigan already, and nearly half of them have opted for the terrorism coverage.
