Assault attempt at bar between advisors before Mackinac Policy Conference

MACKINAC ISLAND (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Apparently there is some drama already brewing ahead of the 2015 Mackinac Policy Conference.

According to the blogger Brandon Hall from West Michigan Politics, police are looking for the deputy director for Marco Rubio's campaign. He's accused of trying to hit one of Rand Paul's advisors.

This apparently happened at Horn's Bar late Thursday night.

According to a tweet from John Yob, Paul's advisor was punched in the face.

He was hired for Paul's campaign as national political director of its Michigan operation.

West Michigan Politics is identifying Rich Beeson as the alleged attacker. He's from Rubio's camp.

Beeson is a veteran political operative and a senior official for Mitt Romney in 2012.

The conference begins Friday afternoon at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island at 1:00.

Jeb Bush is expected to be one of the speakers Friday night.

This year's event will feature appearances by six republican presidential candidates.
