Kzoo recognized for drug court programs

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Kalamazoo is being recognized for offering an alternative to prison time for addicts.

The National Association of Drug Court Professionals is trekking across the United States, stopping and shining a spotlight on 25 communities offering drug treatment court programs.

On Tuesday, All Rise America stopped in Kalamazoo, and our own Andy Dominianni had the honor of emceeing the event.

There was an award ceremony and a parade of transformation at the Kalamazoo Expo Center.

The NADCP says that drug treatment courts are the solution for saving lives, reuniting families, and making communities safer.

Kalamazoo has several drug treatment court programs in place, including sobriety court and juvenile drug court.
